Home Sweet Home – Father’s Day Edition!

As some of you may already know, I got a new job!  Fortunately, I had some time off before starting, so I decided to fly home and surprise my family!  The catch?  I only had a few days. :/  But, it had been almost a year since I was last home, so I needed it badly and it just so happened to align with Father’s Day.

It all started early Saturday morning at the very awesome PDX airport with a standby flight.  I missed the first two flights (granted, we changed from the first flight to the second before I even left the apartment), but it was all good.  Had a safe flight over (full of photo editing and Anchorman 2) and spent the night with John’s parents.  It was so sweet spending time with them and Clarence!IMG_5686Areh came to pick me up bright and early on Sunday morning.  The plan once we got home was for her to go inside, take Daisy potty, then have me bring Daisy back inside.  I apparently looked like a ghost to everyone.  It was an awesome surprise!

I had such a wonderful time at home and took a ton of photos, so without further ado, I bring you a photo dump of home in Georgia in June.  Enjoy!

Happy Belated Birthday, Daisy Boo Boo!

Happy happiest of birthday wishes to Little Miss Sassy Pants Daisy Cakes! 😉  This is Areh’s puppy who I had the pleasure to meet and photograph during my surprise visit home a few weeks ago.  She is spunky, yet sweet; silly, yet smart.  She could play tug with her baby doll for hours and is fiercely protective of her family (she gave me an earful when I picked up any of the kids).  I’m sad that I don’t get to see her daily, but thankful that Areh sends me lots of pics, often!  Sending big hugs and kisses and cuddles to Daisy for her 1st bday! These describe big M perfectly.  He is very silly, yet cuddly and he loves his big sissy!

Easter Egg Hunt — 2013 Video

Finally, I have the short video of our Easter egg hunt up on my vimeo!  You can view it larger if you click here.

*at 2:02 minutes in, the video looks like it stops. not sure what happened, but it comes back at 2:14, so wait for it…

Anywho, I hope to get the pics from Easter weekend edited and up soon.  This was my second attempt at making a short video with clips.  The first time, was for a video for John and I used a trial version of Pinnacle.  It was a good program, a little taxing on my computer, but I just don’t have the funds to purchase it at the moment so I needed something free.  My friend Matt, who is in the film industry and currently working with indieATL, mentioned WeVideo.  It’s a basic, free, online video editing program.  Well, not entirely free if you choose any of the upgrades, like removing the watermark or increasing the quality to HD.  Buuut, I ran into a few snags while using WeVideo, so I think I’m going to try something else next time, but I’ll keep it in mind if I just need a quick and easy edit.

Easy to learn, has a selection of music clips and filters (“themes”), and is free.  You also have the option to choose your editing mode — from simple drag + drop storyboard to an advanced timeline.  I think this program is mainly designed for group projects because editing is all done online and saved in the cloud.  Cool idea!

First, I couldn’t figure out how to cut within clips.  I could shorten the beginning and end, but when I moved the marker to the spot that I wanted to cut, the little scissors icon to clip disappeared.  I tried starting over a few times but couldn’t figure it out.  Then, I had trouble adding transitions…it wouldn’t let me add them to the storyboard.  Then, after uploading the video, I see there is a weird 12 second break.

Ah, perhaps these issues were due to my internet connection, my computer or my noob brain. 😉  Regardless, I think it turned out alright considering.

I think next time I’ll try a free trial of Adobe Premiere Elements…

Stay tuned for pics from that weekend!

A Walk to the Playground

A few weekends ago, I took the little ones on a walk around the neighborhood and to the playground.

Then, we came home and I took photos of Cassie, who was relaxing in the living room…

(caught mid-yawn!)

Then, we went outside and found Mr. Toby…

…and Mr. Jingle!

My beautiful Areh. ❤

The umbrellas came out because the sun was so hot that mid-February afternoon!

The next day, I did Nina’s hair.  It literally took all of Sunday!

♥ Cuddles ♥

Cuddles, Cuddle, Cudd, Cuddy, Cudd-butt, Boo…cuddle silhouette Sending peaceful, happy thoughts to our girl, Cuddles.  She’s had a rough couple weeks and has been in and out of the vet clinic due to insulin resistance, pancreatitis, and dehydration.  We’re hoping to welcome her back home tomorrow.  We all love her so much and have really missed her!

Here’s a photo of Cuddle, taken a few weeks ago.  She loves going on walks (and giving cars a piece of her mind)!

Please send good vibes 🙂
